"Complete waste of time, unsympathetic team"

About: Warwick Hospital

Anything else?

We attended Warwick A&E on Boxing Day 2012. My sister was in a very bad state due to pain in her lower back and loss of sensation on her leg (due to herniated discs for which she is waiting for surgery in London where she lives), We had three paramedics at the house, the first of which was lovely. She went through my sisters pain meds whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive. The lead paramedic in the ambulance was exceptionally rude, and disrepectful in my home, did not listen to a word anyone said and complained about driving the amublance on the drive and actually told my sister to suck it up and make her own way to the ambulance despite being unable to stand without support let alone walk. I followed in the car and managed to arrived 45 minutes before the ambulance despite living only 15 minutes away by car.

Once there, my sister was left in a cubicle unable to stand or sit due to the pain and had to lean on the bed for some relief....... for 4 hours with only gas and air, followed by the same pain meds she'd already had.

When the doctor finally showed up, he sent her home with the same meds she'd been given previously and dismissed her. He didn't even look at her leg which had was numb and cold. Two days later when she returned to Barnett hospital to see her surgeon, he noticed immediately that she had a vasuclar problem with her leg - something completely disregarded by Warwick.

What makes matters worse is, my sister is working at Great Ormond Street in Cardiology - if this is how the NHS treats it's own staff, what is the point in trying to get care for the rest of us? My advice? Just go somewhere else.... or better yet, Private!

Thank you for your comment. With regards to your issue about the Paramedic it would be best if you contact the West Midlands Ambulance Service as they are responsible for this service across the region.

We are sorry that you are not happy with the care your sister received at Warwick Hospital. I have already commenced an investigation into this matter and I am liaising with your sister directly.

Kind regards
