Though not a life threatening complaint my family were delighted at the attention and hope we received on our first and second visits to GOSH, especially compared to places like Whipps Cross. My daughter needs chest wall surgery which while classed as non invasive has a lengthy and painful recovery period. She had a physiological evaluation and all the right boxes were ticked. We waited to hear. Emailed, then waited some more. The replies were consistent, she's on the list and as soon as blah blah blah. I emailed again after 3 months asking for a date only this time I was told that chest wall surgery had been suspended and in all likelihood my daughters op would be at the end of this year (14 months since our first visit). Turns out that GOSH are no different to other NHS units after all, in some respects they are worse. They give you hope and fill you with expectation then do nothing.
"False hope"
